Arkansas Valley Dressage Association (AVDA) was founded in 2007 and is a Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Dressage Society (RMDS). AVDA serves riders in the Arkansas Valley, which includes Pueblo, Fremont, Custer, Chaffee and parts of El Paso counties in Colorado. The area has a rich history of mining and cattle ranching dating back to the 1800's. For more information about the area, see the link: royalgorgeregion.com/canon-city-1900/
AVDA provides competitions and educational programs to our diverse membership, who range in ages from 15 to 90. Our horses are just as diverse as our members and consist of Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, Arabians, Frisians, Warmbloods, Gaited breeds, Paints, Haflingers, Draft Horses and more. Our current members are interested in a variety of disciplines besides classical dressage. These include Western Dressage, reining, jumping, eventing, team penning, trail trials, long lining, and Parelli methods.
When you join RMDS and select AVDA as your chapter, you will automatically become a GMO member of USDF and will receive the USDF's monthly magazine called "Connection" and the monthly RMDS publication "The Centaur.” In Addition, RMDS will send you the yearly "Omnibus" which includes current information on that year's shows and tests.
